"The Greek" Takeaway & Restaurant is dedicated to the memory of "Mama Vivi" who was our Head Chef and Owner Mimis Mother. In the early 80's Vivi had the vision to transform an empty property with four walls into one of the most popular, traditional yet modern restaurants in South East Crete, Greece.
We hope our food gives you an insight into the traditional cooking that to this day, still provides many happy memories, aromas of food being prepared and cooked but most importantly the taste of Greece. Our menu is inspired by Mimis journey from being a young boy in South East Crete, surrounded by family eating freshly cooked food made with love by Vivi.
Mimis is now proud to carry on the memory of Vivi through the food he makes, his passion and love for this food is reflected in our small menu.

All our ingredients are the highest, freshest quality available and where possible, sourced from local farmers and suppliers. Any Olive Oil used in our dishes is imported from our Olive Grove in our village of Makrygialos in South East Crete.
Chicken or pork cooked on a slowly-rotating, vertical rotisserie. Gyros means “turn” in Greek as the meat is constantly turning and continuously basted in its own juices. Once cooked we thinly slice the meat and serve it wrapped in a pitta bread with sliced onions, sliced tomatoes, chips and tzatziki.
